Washington, DC, July 12, 2007 -- In what may be a prelude to a full-blown appeal later, the plaintiff in the multimillion-dollar "pantsuit," Roy L. Pearson Jr., today filed a motion in D.C. Superior Court asking trial Judge Judith Bartnoff to reconsider her recent verdict for the defendants, family owners of a neighborhood dry cleaner.

"The Chungs are law-abiding, hardworking entrepreneurs who have suffered a costly, two year legal nightmare that may yet drag on for many months or more," explained Larry Akey of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform. He reported that ILR is teaming up with the American Tort Reform Association to co-host a July 24 fundraiser for the Chungs "to help defray some of their business losses and expenses related to the litigation."

ATRA's Darren McKinney added, "We're making an 'appeal' of our own to the media for help in spreading the word and reporting the fact that anyone interested in attending the fundraiser or otherwise supporting the Chungs should go to www.ChungFundraiser.com for details."
