Amtrak Reform and Accountability Act of 1997

The Amtrak Reform and Accountability Act of 1997, Pub. L. No. 105-134, created a federal standard for punitive damages awards in tort cases brought against Amtrak by its passengers and capped Amtrak's tort liability at $200 million per rail accident.
