In 2023, it is estimated that $2.4 billion was spent on more than 26 million local legal services television, radio, print ads or billboards soliciting legal claims across the United States — an increase of more than 5% compared to these types of local ads in 2022.

In 2023, more than $609.7 million was spent on approximately 650,000 national legal services advertisements. This includes print, digital, network radio, cable television, network television, and syndicated television ads.

In 2023, nearly $105.3 million was spent on more than 642,600 local legal services advertisements in the two
media markets to which New Jersey residents are exposed — New York City and Philadelphia. This includes print, digital, local and national spot radio, outdoor, and spot TV.

When compared with the average dollar amount spent on local legal services between 2019 and 2022, overall spending in in the two media markets to which New Jersey residents are exposed— New York City and Philadelphia — increased by nearly 12%. Spending on Spot TV ads increased a little more than 11% between 2022 and 2023, but the quantity of Spot TV ads increased more than 25%.

Spending on out-of-home and outdoor ads increased more than 91% since 2019. When compared with the average dollar amount spent on and the average number of radio ads placed between 2019 and 2022, there was a significant increase in local legal services radio ads in 2023. Spending on these ads was slightly lower in 2021, so the average spent between 2019 and 2022 was approximately $12.2 million to place an average of 153,524 local legal services radio ads. In 2023, spending increased by more than 60% while the quantity of ads increased nearly 85%.
